There are two motorways leading to and from Florence: These are the A11 and the A1 and there are other major road links such as the Florence-Pisa-Livorno or the Florence - Siena
If you are coming from the north or from Milan, we recommend you come off the motorway at the Firenze Nord exit and the follow the directions for the city centre and the Viali di Circonvallazione (ring roads). Once you have reached the Viali, pass the Fortezza da Basso, then Piazza della Libertà and go straight on towards Piazza Donatello and enter the city centre from Via Alfieri. Pass under the traffic cameras and follow the directions that we will have sent you with the map.
If you are coming from Genoa or France, take the A12 motorway until you reach Viareggio and then continue on the A11 towards Florence until you reach the end of the motorway, i.e. Firenze Nord. Then follow the same directions above for those coming from the north.
If you are coming from the south or from Rome, on the A1 motorway, come off at the Firenze Sud exit and go straight on for approximately 3.5 km along the high-speed freeway. Once you have crossed over the River Arno the road ends. Turn left at the traffic lights. Go straight on, following the directions for the city centre and when you are forced to turn right into the Viali di Circonvallazione), take the first on the left and then turn right immediately. Once you have crossed the other Viale, you will enter the city centre from Via dell'Agnolo. Pass under the traffic cameras and then follow the directions we will have sent you with the map.
If you are coming from Siena, follow the directions for Piazzale Michelangelo, cross the Piazzale (panoramic point), descend towards the city and cross over the River Arno. After the traffic lights take the first on the left and then turn right immediately. Once you have crossed the Viale, you will enter the city centre from Via dell'Agnolo. Pass under the traffic cameras and then follow the directions we will have sent you with the map.
